Pashmina cashmere ?

The fibre

  • Pashmina cashmere comes from the Changthangi goat of Ladakh, above 14,000 feet in the Himalayas — the source of every genuine luxury pashmina.
  • Fibre diameter: 12–16 microns — finer than merino, six times thinner than human hair. Among all types of wool, pashmina sits at the top.
  • Smoother cuticle scales than sheep's wool — why a real cashmere shawl glides against skin instead of itching.

Our blend: 30% pashmina · 70% lamb's wool

  • Pashmina cashmere from Ladakh blended with first-shearing lambswool from the Swat Valley — a fine wool shawl with cashmere softness and wool durability.
  • Longer staple, higher crimp, greater resistance to pilling than a pure pashmina wrap.
  • A soft wool shawl built to be worn daily, not stored.

How to wear it

  • Designed as a pashmina shawl or wrap — over the shoulders, layered, or worn loose across the body.
  • The size and weight also suit it as a hijab or abaya-style covering, or a large pashmina scarf.
  • Genderless. One rectangle, no rules — a shawl for women and a men's shawl alike. Wear it your way.

Why this matters

  • "Pashmina" has no legal fibre protection in the UK — many products labelled pashmina contain none. Ours is a genuine cashmere wrap, fibre-verified.
  • Every SHAAL is a handwoven wool shawl, woven on manual looms. No synthetics. No industrial finishing.

The Roots

Handwoven in the Swat Valley, northern Pakistan - a wool textile centre for centuries, nestled between the Hindu Kush and Karakoram ranges.

Every SHAAL is woven on a manual Khadi loom by weavers known locally as Jollagan - a respected, generational trade. Up to 37 people contribute to a single piece.

Over 50,000 people in Swat depend on handloom production. We connect this craft to a global market so it stays commercially viable. Not a charity - a product we believe in, made by people who should be paid properly for it.

How to care for your SHAAL
